Skittles Vodka Ingredients
- 2 or 3 Bag of Skittles (174g Bags)
- 1 Liter of Good Vodka (The recipe uses 500ml of vodka for each flavour so you’ll need more vodka if you want more than two flavours)
- 4 Bottles 500ml (Again if you making more flavours you ll need more bottles)
- 2 Coffee Filter Papers
- 1 Coffee Funnel ( You can use a normal funnel just make sure it big enough to hold the filter paper)
- 1 Large Jug
Skittles Vodka takes a few days so plan ahead don’t try to make it an hour before the party starts believe me it wont work! Other than that it’s really easy to make and goes down great at parties/prelashes either drank as shots or mixed to make cocktails.
- Start by separating out the skittles into all the different flavours ( Don’t bother mixing flavours trust me it doesn’t work you just end up with a horrid looking brown liquid that will remind you of the dark days where you raided your parents alcohol stash and just mixed everything together. Then proceed to drink your ‘cocktail’ on a park bench thinking you were having the time of your life……. Then the nausea started!!)
- Once you’ve separated your skittles place each different flavour into its own bottle. Then fill the bottles with vodka ( You may want to use a funnel to do this) Once the are full screw the lid on tightly and give them a good shake you should start to see the vodka take on the colour of the skittles.Now pop them in the fridge 2 or 3 days shaking them up a bit a few times a day.(If you’re in a bit of a wiggle you can just leave them over night but the longer you leave them the better they taste)
Now for the slightly more technical part. Remove your bottles from the fridge the skittles should be more or less entirely dissolved. At this point you should have a bright but cloudy skittles vodka this is why you need to filter it. To do this pop your filter paper in your coffee filter or funnel and place over your jug.
- Once you’ve placed the filter paper over the jug pour the cloudy vodka into the funnel its will take quite a long time to filter through. You’ll start to see scummy foam on the filter paper I have no idea what this foam is i can only assume its all the crap they add to the skittles for whatever reason. Because of this you may need to give it a little stir as the foam clogs up the filter paper a bit.
When filtered the vodka should be the colour of the skittles but clear enough for you to see through it. Once all the vodka has been through the filter simply pour it a clean 500ml bottle and its ready to drink! (Do make sure you use clean bottles for otherwise the vodka will take on the taste of whatever was in the bottle before hand)
Tip Note: If you buy some fancy glass bottles jazz them up with a bit of ribbon then put the skittles vodka in. They make great birthday or Christmas presents for friends and family.
